PPGI steel coil is a composite metal material formed by applying one or multiple layers of organic coatings onto a hot-dip galvanized steel base. The continuous roller coating process ensures uniform film coverage, and high-temperature baking cures the coating to form a stable, decorative, and corrosion-resistant surface.
Unlike post-painted steel products, our pre-painted coils retain full formability for stamping, bending, and roll forming - making them a cost-effective solution for roofing sheets, wall cladding, and appliance enclosures. All production batches comply with ASTM A653 and EN 10169 dual standards, with consistent quality verified by in-line real-time testing.

Production Process

Uncoiling & Welding

Galvanized coils are loaded and uncoiled, with head-to-tail welding to enable uninterrupted continuous production.
Cleaning & Pretreatment

Alkaline degreasing, multi-stage water rinsing, and phosphating passivation are performed to form a conversion coating on the steel surface, ensuring coating adhesion.
Primer Coating & Baking

Epoxy primer is applied via precision roller coating, followed by curing at a controlled temperature of 230℃ to form a corrosion-resistant base layer.
Finish Coating & Curing

A functional topcoat is roller-coated according to the specified coating system, followed by a second high-temperature baking to ensure full curing and stable performance.
Cooling & Quality Inspection

Rapid air + water cooling brings the coil to room temperature, followed by full surface quality inspection and thickness testing before recoiling.
Final Inspection & Packing

We perform final checks on thickness, color difference, and coating adhesion, and proceed to packaging only after all indicators meet the standard.

Packing Methods

Vertical Packing (Eye to Sky)

Coils are placed vertically on wooden pallets with anti-slip rubber pads, wrapped with waterproof paper and galvanized iron sheet, and secured by 4 radial + 4 circumferential steel strips. This method is suitable for short-distance transportation and small-volume orders.
Horizontal Packing (Eye to Side)

Coils are placed horizontally on dedicated brackets with edge protectors at both ends, fully wrapped with waterproof film. This method provides better anti-collision performance and is recommended for long-distance sea transportation.

Q: What is the difference between PPGI and PPGL?

A: PPGI uses a hot-dip galvanized (pure zinc) steel substrate, while PPGL uses a galvalume (aluminum-zinc alloy coated) substrate. PPGI offers lower cost and better weldability, making it the mainstream choice for general construction. PPGL provides 2–3 times better corrosion resistance and is more suitable for highly corrosive environments such as coastal areas.

Q: How do I choose the right coating system?

A: PE coating works well for indoor use or mild outdoor environments. For regular outdoor construction roofing and walling, we recommend SMP or HDP coatings for balanced cost and durability. For coastal areas, heavily polluted regions, or high-end buildings, PVDF coating is the optimal choice, with a service warranty of up to 20 years.

Q: What is your minimum order quantity?

A: The MOQ is 3 MT for standard specifications and standard colors. For special colors or fully customized specifications, the MOQ is 5 MT. We also support mixed container loading for different specifications to reduce your inventory pressure.

Q: What storage precautions should we follow?

A: We recommend indoor storage to avoid rain and moisture. If outdoor storage is necessary, cover the coils completely with waterproof tarpaulins. Stacking height should not exceed 3 layers, and we recommend using the material within 6 months of delivery to maintain optimal coating performance.

Q: How to avoid paint peeling during processing?

A: We recommend a bending radius of at least 4 times the sheet thickness, and using polyurethane molds to reduce surface friction. Applying a protective film before stamping can also effectively prevent surface scratches and coating damage.

Q: How do you control color difference between batches?

A: We recommend using products from the same production batch for a single project to ensure visual consistency. Our in-line color control system keeps batch-to-batch color difference within ΔE≤1.0, complying with international color standards for construction steel.

Q: Can you provide product samples?

A: We offer free A4-sized samples of standard specifications, with freight collected by the receiver. Larger size samples or custom cut samples are charged by actual weight, and the sample fee can be deducted from your subsequent formal order.

Q: How do you handle quality issues after delivery?

A: Please raise any quality objections within 7 days after cargo arrival, along with clear photos and test reports. After our technical team confirms the issue, we will arrange return, replacement, or corresponding compensation, with a dedicated person following up the whole process until closure.
